Possum Puppet

On Friday I went to the Dunkley's Craft Show here in Christchurch with my four year old. I haven't been to the show for a number of years, and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

There were a large number of varied stall holders and although some of the sites were a bit cramped for the number of shoppers, it was worthwhile.

Carter's and my favourite stall was Heather Lyell's. She had a fantastic range of her soft toys on display. Most of these were for sale and some were available as kits. I have purchased a number of her kits uder her 'BearZerk' brand in the past, and I have always found them very easy to follow and complete. This year, both Heather and her husband had a possum on their hand! They have obviously spent a lot of time perfecting their techniques, as my son asked me if the possums were real! They did look amazing.

Needless to say, I had to purchase a kit to make a pet eco-friendly possum. Heather has also designed two giraffes since I last saw her work, and I particularly liked her Jeffrey one.  I didn't have much cash on me though, so we continued around the show holding our possum in a bag.

Unfortunately, Jeffrey's beautiful eyelashes kept on popping into my head as we continued onwards, and yip, you guessed it, I had to go back armed with my credit card to get him!

I have spent the weekend creating my Polly Possum, being nagged on by a four year old the whole time. Here they are....

Sorry, my computer does not seem to want to upload my photos. I will load them when I can. I think the claws look amazing. In the meantime check out www.dlyellbears.co.nz for more about Heather's amazing creations.
