Halloween Cauldron

A few years ago I saw in a magazine a 16 inch cauldron which had the front cut out in a jagged 'blast' shape so you could see a miniature scene inside. The top of the cauldron had a hard foam of some sort which had been painted. I really wanted to try something like it.

So, I bought a plastic cauldron from Spotlight when they had them for sale a couple of years ago.  Unfortunately my cauldron is only six and a half inches wide, so I knew that I would have to do the scene in half scale.

I managed to find a couple of witchy hags at the Riccarton Market one day... the perfect size. Well, they were once I'd cut the bottom off them!

In the weekend after completing my miniature piano, I decided it was about time I got to and started working on the cauldron. I started by 'yucky' painting some shelves,  and filling them up with witchy stuff. .. skulls, rotten apples etc.

Inside the cauldron I added a hanging skeleton,  bats, table with glass ball and cute witchy ornament (purchased at the Dunedin NZAME Convention last year), mouse, hand skeleton candle holders, mini cauldron etc. Now I just need to find a half scale black cat!

Here is a photo with lights off...

Lights on...

And inside. All ready for Halloween.
